George R Coar, M.D.

Dr. Coar graduated from the University of Scranton. He completed an M.D. degree at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia in 1981. Dr. Coar completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh Eye & Ear Hospital in Pittsburgh and is Board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is also a member of the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons, Luzerne County Medical Society-Member Board of Directors since 1995 and Pennsylvania Medical Society. Dr. Coar specializes in complete medical & surgical eye care, small incision, no-needle, no-stitch cataract surgery, glaucoma management and laser surgery. His interests are cataracts and glaucoma. Dr. Coar is a native of Dunmore and currently resides in Larksville with his wife, Rosemary. Dr. Coar enjoys golf.

Erik F Kruger, M.D.

Dr. Kruger graduated from the Brandeis University in Waltham, MA. He completed an M.D.degree from The Chicago Medical School in North Chicago, IL. Dr. Kruger completed his residency at theThe New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in New York, NY where he was chief resident. He also completed two Retina-Vitreous Fellowships one from The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and the other from the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary of the Harvard Medical School. His specialties include adult medical and surgical retinal disease, diabetic eye disease, retinal laser treatment and macular degeneration. Dr. Kruger is currently a member of The American Academy of Ophthalmology, Pennsylvania Medical Society, American Medical Association, Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society, and Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society. Dr. Kruger and his wife Abbe reside in Shavertown with their family. While away from the office he enjoys photography, reading, music and spending time with his family.

Patrick McGraw, M.D.

After receiving his B.S. in Biology from the University of Scranton in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Dr. McGraw earned his M.D. from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. McGraw completed his residency at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. His specialties include LASIK, no-needle, no-stitch, no-patch cataract surgery, refractive surgery, diabetic eye disease and glaucoma management. Dr. McGraw is currently a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, The American Medical Association and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. McGraw and his wife, Michele, reside in Mountaintop. While away from the office, he enjoys hiking, camping, tennis, and skiing.

William M McLaughlin, Jr., D.O.

After receiving a B. S. in Biology from Pennsylvania State University, Dr. McLaughlin earned an O.D. degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, and D.O. from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. McLaughlin completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Detroit Osteopathic Ophthalmology Consortium and a retina-vitreous fellowship from the Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary of the Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. He is Board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology and specializes in diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, retinopathy of prematurity, retinal laser treatment, and adult and pediatric "retina and vitreous diseases of the eye. Dr. McLaughlin is a member of the Board of the American Osteopathic Colleges of Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery as well as the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. McLaughlin resides in Mountaintop with his wife Donna.

Joseph F Morrison, Jr., M.D.

Dr. Morrison received his B.S. in Biology from Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He earned his M.D. from the Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia and completed a residency at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Morrison has been in private practice since 1979 and has been a member of the Eye Care Specialists team since 1999. He is accredited by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Morrison and his wife, Alina, reside in Kingston Dr. Morrison enjoys golfing.

Harvey J Reiser, M.D.

Dr. Reiser graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He completed an M.D. degree at Duke University in North Carolina and was granted the J.E. Markee Award in 1981 and the Fight for Sight Fellowship in 1984. Dr. Reiser completed a residency in ophthalmology at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is Board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Reiser specializes in , no-needle, no-stitch, no-patch cataract surgery refractive surgery including laser vision correction, LASIK, Custom Lasik, ASA, and CK. He also specializes in Lifestyle Lens Implants like ReSTOR® and ReZoom™. These lens implants allow patients to see well after cataract surgery and refractive lens exchange for distance and near, reducing their dependence on spectacles for all activities. He also manages diabetic eye disease, provides retinal laser treatment, cosmetic and functional eyelid surgery including Botox.

Dr. Reiser was recently one of the 16 FDA investigators in the United States for the new ALCON AcrSof® ReSTOR® Intraocular Lens. Dr. Reiser lectures to other doctors around the country about the premium IOLs, ReStor and ReZoom. He has been awarded with numerous ongoing studies for the US FDA and many ophthalmic companies because of his expertise in this area. Dr. Reiser and his wife, Kathy and their three daughters, reside in Shavertown. Dr. Reiser enjoys playing basketball, hockey, skiing, and is an avid all-around sports fan. Dr. Reiser believes his two greatest accomplishments are his wonderful family and successful ophthalmology practice.

Richard E Roth, D.O.

After receiving a B.S. in Biology from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, Dr. Roth earned his D.O. from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia. While serving as Captain with the U.S. Army Medical Corps, he was a U.S. Army Flight Surgeon. Dr. Roth completed his residency from The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in New York, NY. with a Fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic, Reconstructive and Orbital Surgery. Dr. Roth joined the ophthalmic staff of Eye Care Specialists in 2004 on a part-time basis while maintaining his ophthalmic expertise with Main Line Eye Specialists in Wayne, PA. His specialties include complete medical and surgical eye care, ophthalmic and facial plastic surgery, corneal/refractive surgery and anterior segment reconstruction. Dr. Roth is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Osteopathic Colleges of Ophthalmology and Otolarnygology Head and Neck Surgery, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, American Medical Association and the American Osteopathic Association. Dr. Roth resides in Fort Washington.

Donald J Savage, M.D.

After graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Notre Dame, Dr. Savage received an M.D. degree from Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Savage completed a residency in ophthalmology at the SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse and a retina-vitreous fellowship at Washington National Eye Center in Washington, D. C. He is a founding partner of Eye Care Specialists and has continuously practiced ophthalmology in the Wyoming Valley since 1982.

Board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Savage is formerly The Chief of Ophthalmology, Division of Surgery, at Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre and is currently the Medical Director of the Kingston Surgery Center. Special interests include no-needle, no-stitch, no-patch cataract implant surgery, including the new premium lens implants such as ReSTOR® which allows most recipients freedom from glasses and bi-focals.

Medical treatment of retinal disorders continues to be an important part of Dr. Savage’s expertise, including diabetic eye disease and macular degeneration. He has performed in excess of 10,000 cataract/lens implant surgeries and over twice as many retinal treatments including lasers, surgery, and macular degeneration treatments. This dual specialty and extensive experience attracts many consultations to Dr. Savage for "complex" cataract conditions especially those co-existing conditions such as diabetes and macular degeneration.

Dr Savage received the AMA Physicians Recognition Award for continuing medical education and has been chosen by the Consumers' Research Council of America as one of "America's Top Ophthalmologists" 2002-03, 04-05, and 06-07 editions. Memberships include the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Pennsylvania Medical Society and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Savage considers his greatest accomplishment having been part of the dedicated group of doctors who have made Eye Care Specialists one of the premier multi-specialty eye practices in the country. He is proud to have practiced honest, compassionate ophthalmology for nearly 25 years.

Dr. Savage is a native of Plymouth and Harvey's Lake and now resides in Shavertown with his wife, Kathleen. Dr. Savage enjoys traveling, golfing, boating, and cheering on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Thomas G Sharkey, M.D.

After graduating from the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania with a B.S. degree in Physics, Dr. Sharkey went on to receive a Master's Degree in Physics at the University of Virginia. He received an M.D. degree from Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Sharkey completed a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh. Board certified in Ophthalmology, he received the American Medical Association's Physician's Recognition Award in 1988. Dr. Sharkey's article "Transplantation of Lacerated Cornea" was published in the American Journal of Ophthalmology in 1981. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Luzerne County Medical Society, Pennsylvania Medical Society and the American Medical Association. Dr. Sharkey's special interests include no-needle, no-stitch, no-patch cataract surgery, glaucoma management, and pediatric ophthalmology. Dr. Sharkey and his wife, Anne, reside in Moosic. Dr. Sharkey enjoys golfing and skiing and his interests include history and classical music.

Robert G Szulborski, M.D., PhD

Dr. Szulborski received a B.A. degree in Physics from Amherst College in Massachusetts. He went on to earn M.D. and PhD. Degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. He was awarded a NIH Medical Scientist Training Program Fellowship while at the University of Pennsylvania. Board certified in Ophthalmology, Dr. Szulborski completed a residency in ophthalmology at the Washington University Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri and a glaucoma fellowship at Scheie Eye Institute of the University of Pennsylvania. He specializes in all aspects of glaucoma care along with cataract surgery, diabetic eye care, and general ophthalmology. He has traveled to several less advantaged countries to perform volunteer eye surgery, including Papua New Guinea, Tonga, and Poland. Dr. Szulborski and his wife, Debra, reside in Shavertown. While away from the office, Dr. Szulborski enjoys skiing, scuba diving, flying and woodworking.

Nina M Taggart, MA, MD, MBA, FAAO

After receiving an A. B. degree from Bryn Mawr College, and an M.A. from Haverford College in Pennsylvania, Dr. Taggart completed her M.D. from Cornell University Medical College in New York. She served a medical internship at Bryn Mawr Hospital, Pennsylvania and an ophthalmology residency with New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Taggart as been Board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has been honored with many awards including the Elise Strang L’Esperance Memorial Prize in Public Health, the Upjohn Achievement Award in Pharmacology, the Janet Glasgow. Dr. Taggart is also Corporate Medical Director , All One Health Management Solutions, Wilkes-Barre, PA. She is a member of the American Medical Association and American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Taggart’s interests include ophthalmology, population health management and quality affordable healthcare in rural areas.
